SENECA COUNTY, Ohio – Two people are dead following a fiery car crash on State Route 228.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, 31-year-old Christopher Meyer was partially ejected from a 2006 Hyundai Sonata around 11:45 p.m. Friday night. He was pronounced dead at the scene. His passenger, 26-year-old Antony Ryon, was also pronounced dead by first responders.

State police say the car went off the right side of the road after Meyer failed to negotiate a curve. The car hit a stop sign and overturned multiple times before coming to rest after hitting multiple trees. The car then became fully engulfed in flames.

Police believe alcohol was a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
