Survey: Phones used more for email than to make calls

Cellphones perform countless functions for us every day.

In fact, we use our cell phones for so many different things, people are hardly using them to make calls anymore.

A new survey finds calls are the sixth most common thing we do on our phone.

Researchers found the top thing people use their phone for is sending and receiving text messages, according to UPI.com. Text message use is followed by using the alarm clock, reading emails, and browsing the internet.

The most popular functions after making calls were checking the time, using the calculator, and checking Facebook.

Experts suggest people use their smartphones for so many functions because of its convenience, as we get less and less time to ourselves.
