Request approved: Concerns over cruisers addressed

MASSILLON, Ohio- The Massillon Police Department will get two new police cruisers.City Council voted Monday night to purchased two SUVs at a cost of about $60,000.

The cruisers will begin to replace an aging fleet that’s been plagued by mechanical problems.

Safety concerns prompted the department to ban speeding, pursuits and rapid acceleration in most of its police cars.

No word on when the department will receive the new vehicles.
