MIDDLETOWN, Ohio (AP) — A 22-year-old southwest Ohio father has been charged after sheriff’s deputies say he head-butted his 7-month-old son because the baby wouldn’t stop crying.

The Butler County Sheriff’s Office says William Bently told deputies he head-butted the infant multiple times in the face. The child was taken to a hospital in Middletown, and then transferred to a Dayton hospital. He was in stable condition with injuries not expected to be life-threatening.

The sheriff’s office said Bently was arrested Wednesday and charged with a felony count of endangering children, and a misdemeanor count of domestic violence. He was jailed in Middletown, and records did not list an attorney for him Thursday.

Sheriff Richard Jones called the alleged incident “absolutely disgusting.”
