‘Operation’ game inventor can’t afford his own operation

The man who invented the popular ‘Operation’ game can’t afford his real-life operation.

The Huffington Post reports that John Spinello, 77, of Illinois, needs $25,000 in oral surgery and can’t afford to pay for it. Spinello reportedly sold the rights to ‘Operation’ for $500 when he invented the game 50 years ago.

Some toy designers are now trying to help out Spinello through a crowdfunding campaign.

As of Tuesday night, more than $7,000 had been raised.
