IOWA-- A husband, racing his pregnant wife to the hospital to give birth, ends up being chased by police; then the two are ordered to the ground and held at gunpoint.

According to WHO-TV, police were concerned when they saw the SUV speeding on the highway going 85 in a 55.

Rachel Kohnen says she remembers telling her husband, Ben, not to stop. "She says that this is not like the others. This is happening right now," Ben said.

"I think I was screaming, 'oh dear god, we can't have the baby in the car,'" Rachel recalled.

Police called for back-up when they wouldn't stop; the couple said they tried calling 911 to explain, but said it was too late because officers had thrown out tire spikes.

When the couple finally stopped, they were ordered to the ground and held at gunpoint until police realized the emergency. "I was in the middle of the highway having contractions with guns pointed at me," Rachel told WHO-TV.

After that, she got a police escort to the hospital, where the couple's fourth child, 10-lb Hazel, was born.
