Co-stars send well-wishes to actor injured in Ashtabula County car crash

KINGSVILLE TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A soap opera actor was injured in a car crash early Tuesday morning in Ashtabula County.

The Ohio State Patrol says Frederick Smith and Alyssa Tabit were hurt when a car driven by Smith lost control and overturned.

It happened around 12:30 a.m. on State Route 84 in Kingsville Township.

The Ohio State Patrol says Tabit was trapped inside the vehicle. She was flown to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Youngstown where she was listed in critical condition.

Smith was taken to the Conneaut Medical Center.

Smith, who is from Ashtabula, stars in NBC’s daytime soap opera “Days of our Lives.”

Tabit’s Facebook page says she is in a relationship with Smith.

Smith’s co-stars posted about the accident on Facebook and Twitter.

The Ohio State Patrol said speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.
