PARMA – All St. Ignatius needed was a little home cooking.

The #6. Wildcats returned home to Byers Field, Saturday and forced seven turnovers by visiting Canada Prep Football Academy (Pinehurst School) from Canada in a 34-7 win that was not nearly as close as the final score.

Defensive lineman Ray Brown recovered a fumbled snap on the Spartans’ third play from scrimmage.

Then Luke Russell scored on a 10-yard run on the Wildcats’ first offensive snap and St. Ignatius (4-2) never looked back.

Dre’Mont Jones dove on another bad snap on the next possession.

Quarterback Jacob Kucia turned that turnover into six points, hitting David Shibley over the middle for a 27-yard touchdown pass to make the score 14-0 after just four minutes.

The Wildcats intercepted four Pinehurst passes and Kucia threw two more touchdowns in the second half, one to James Berger and another to Calvin Grbac to close out the scoring.

Cory Griffith kicked two field goals in the first quarter as the Wildcats jumped out to a 20-0 lead.

St. Ignatius welcomes McDowell, from Erie, PA to Byers Field next Saturday.
