The clinic police department dedicated a memorial for Officer Jason Gresko.
He was a full-time clinic police officer who was working part-time for the Willoughby Police Department when he was killed in September 2012 while responding to a call.
A drunk driver turned in front of Gresko’s cruiser causing him to swerve and crash into a tree. The clinic’s police chief said the memorial will mean different things to different people.
“It will mean solitude for some people, a place of prayer, some people come here to celebrate, some of us will come here and talk to Jason as if he is alive,” said Chief David Easton. “It has a lot of different meanings, but mostly we hope this is a place of celebration.”
Easton said the memorial is in an area where the department holds many special events.
“So when we have those events, Jason will be right here with us,” he said.
The man convicted in connection with Gresko’s death is currently serving a four-year prison term.
