NEW LEBANON, Ohio (AP) — Authorities in southwest Ohio say four juvenile inmates have been charged in an attempted escape and assaults on staff members at detention facility.

Montgomery County sheriff’s deputies responded at 7:10 p.m. EDT Saturday to CAS Center in New Lebanon on reports of an escape attempt underway.

Police say none of the inmates made it outside the detention center. They say inmates assaulted a staff member in the gymnasium, tried to break through security glass, and assaulted another staff member trying to restrain them.

The staffers were treated at the scene for minor injuries.

Police from multiple agencies responded to the facility about 12 miles west of Dayton.

The inmates were taken to the county’s Juvenile Justice Center. Police say they are charged with felony assault, vandalism and attempted escape.
