Akron — Humane officers in Akron got a surprise when searching a home.

According to the Pawsibilites Humane Society of Greater Akron, a humane officer was responding to an allegation of a dog being abandoned in a home.

The dog was never found, but after searching the home, the officer located a bearded dragon inside an aquarium.

The animal had no food or water and was very dehydrated and malnourished. Authorities say he likely wouldn’t have survived much longer.

Thanks to the efforts of the humane officers, the animal immediately went into foster care. He has now been dubbed a “foster failure” and is a permanent member of the family.
