EATON TWP., Ohio -- A Lorain County Sheriff's deputy was injured after he was struck during a police chase this morning.

It happened at about 10:30 a.m. at Route 83 and Butternut Ridge Road in Eaton Township.

Authorities say North Ridgeville police were involved in a chase with the driver of a stolen vehicle.

The Lorain deputy responded to assist in the chase. He was outside his cruiser when he was hit from behind by light tan or cream-colored car. The impact flipped the deputy over his cruiser, said police.

The deputy was taken to a local hospital and was later released. He did have a K-9 officer with him at the time of the accident; police say the dog was not hurt.

Police were able to apprehend the stolen vehicle suspect, but the hit-skip suspect has not yet been found.

She is described as an elderly female. Police are urging the woman to turn herself in. Anyone with information on the hit-skip suspect should call police.
