CLEVELAND, Ohio - Two women are recovering after being shot inside a convenience store Thursday night.

According to police, a pregnant 24-year-old woman was shot in the face, and a 28-year-old woman was shot in the arm at 9 p.m.

The women were checking out inside the store on E. 79th Street when they heard gunshots outside. Bullets entered the store and struck both women. They were taken to MetroHealth Medical Center for treatment.

A 28-year-old man told police he was talking to another man in the parking lot when a grey Ford Focus drove by and a person inside started firing shots at them.

Police say both men then pulled out their guns and started firing back at the car as it drove away.

The men ran off after the shooting, but one of them returned when police arrived at the convenience store. He told officers he didn't know the name of the person he fired shots with and he also didn't know the identity of the people in the grey Ford Focus.

The man showed police his CCW permit, and handed over his .380 cal handgun used in the shooting. He was then arrested.

Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call the Fourth District Detective Bureau at 216-623-5418.
