LORAIN, Ohio — The Division of State Fire Marshal’s Fire and Explosion Investigation Bureau has ruled that a fire that destroyed a Lorain church was intentionally set.

First Lutheran Church, 603 Washington Ave., was gutted in the fire that broke out on Aug. 28.

Investigators said in a release issued Friday afternoon that they are also looking into a break-in that occurred at the church.

A reward of up to $5,000 is being offered for information leading to the identification of the person or persons responsible for the fire. Investigators are also seeking information, video, audio or pictures of the incident.

“If anyone saw something out of the ordinary at or around the time of the fire or may have heard someone speaking about the fire with an unusual level of interest or knowledge, investigators want to hear from you,” State Fire Marshal Larry Flowers said in the release.

Anyone with information is asked to call investigators at 1-800-589-2728.
