JACKSONVILLE, Florida– A mother says her teenage daughter was forced to wear a so-called ‘shame suit’ after she violated the school dress code.

According to WJXT, Miranda Larkin, 15, was wearing a skirt when she was called out for it being too short.

She says a teacher sent her to the nurse’s office to change into oversized red sweatpants and a neon yellow shirt– with the words ‘dress code violator’ on it.

Miranda’s mother says her daughter was mortified and broke out into hives.

WJXT reports that the school district says dress code violators have three options: in-school suspension, put on the ‘violation’ clothes and go back to class, or have someone drop off proper clothing to them.

The school also says students and parents are reminded of the dress code in five different ways at the beginning of the school year.

Miranda says she was only told to put on the clothes.
