Firestone head football coach suspended over player abuse accusations

AKRON, Ohio -- Firestone head football coach Tim Flossie has been suspended.

According to Mark Williamson with Akron Schools, the coach is accused of being verbally abusive to one player and slapping another player on Thursday night; it's not clear if the alleged incidents happened during or after the game.

Parents who said they witnessed the coach's alleged actions reported them.

Williamson said there is no timetable on the investigation. Billy Adair has been named acting coach for the team.

Police are not  involved in the investigation.
