SHREVEPORT, La. — A little boy who was born without a brain spent 12 years defying the odds.

Trevor Judge Waltrip died in his sleep on Monday.

According to KSLA, Trevor was born with a condition called hydranencephaly, where he only had a brain stem.

The brain stem allowed Trevor to breathe and have a heartbeat, but he was blind and could not communicate.

There is no cure or treatment for hydranencephaly.

Doctors didn’t think Trevor would make it past 12 weeks of age, let alone 12 years.
