For Mike Pettine and his team, the final game is when the starters will play minimal minutes and the hope is for a safe, incident-free game.

However, the offense needs a lot of polish as Brian Hoyer has looked off in games and the receiving corp is far from ready to post large numbers.

Hoyer was asked if he needs to see something in the Bears’ game to make him feel better about starting the season in Pittsburgh September 7. “I don’t feel we’re down on ourselves. I think the most frustrating part to us is that we do some things really well and then we shoot ourselves in the foot. It’s not like we’re going out there and just going three and out, three and out, three and out. That’s the frustrating part. If we just sucked then I think we would kind of just be down on ourselves, but we realize what we can be. That’s the most frustrating part and that’s why we’ve been coming out of these games feeling mad at ourselves.”

Hoyer will start the game with the first-team offense and play one quarter and Johnny Manziel will take over for the rest of the  first half and possibly into the third quarter.

Here are some position groups to keep an eye on: receivers because the team will not have Pro Bowler Josh Gordon due to his year-long suspension and there are several young, untested players trying to earn spots on the team; defensive backfield and inside linebacker will also be scrutinized.

The Browns are 0-3 on the preseason and once the game is completed, the staff will have some serious discussions to determine the final, 53-man roster. That is due to be submitted by 4 p.m. on Saturday.
