Long have movie theaters asked patrons to turn off their cell phones, but some may be giving up the fight.

Theaters in major Chinese cities have reportedly been projecting text messages from the audience onto the screen, according to The Hollywood Reporter, citing China Youth Daily.

The concept, which is still in an experimental stage, is called a “bullet screen” and caters to those who can’t part with their device.

The Hollywood reporter said the experience is much like watching a video on social media where chat or messaging options are available, which is how most Chinese people watch films.
