Baby, woman injured in hit-and-run accident

CLEVELAND– Cleveland police is investigating a hit-and-run accident that happened just after 1 p.m. Thursday on E. 118th and Buckeye.

Police said a preliminary investigation revealed that a vehicle jumped the curb and hit a woman and an infant.

The woman was taken to MetroHealth Medical Center in critical condition; the infant was taken to Rainbow Babies and Children’s Hospital in serious condition.

Two people were inside the vehicle that struck them; both of them walked away from the scene.

According to police, one of the people returned to the scene and helped out before leaving again before officers arrived.

One juvenile has turned himself in to police.
