CLEVELAND -- A gas leak at the Louis Stokes Cleveland VA Medical Center on East Boulevard prompted some evacuations Tuesday, but it was capped as of 11:55 a.m. and was not considered a threat.

The Cleveland Division of Fire said a construction crew outside of the hospital punctured a line in the street which created the low pressure leak.

It was reported around 10:38 a.m.

The hospital activated its emergency operations plan.  Some employees were forced to evacuate and the air ducts to certain buildings were shut off.

The gas company was at the scene and will make a determination when the repairs will be finished.

East Boulevard from Wade Oval to East 105th was closed in the meantime.
