STREETSBORO, Ohio — Photos posed to a local police department’s Facebook page shows a heartwarming act by a local police officer.

According to the Streetsboro Police Department’s Facebook Page, police received several calls of a man in a motorized wheelchair trying to cross State Route 14 near Kmart.

Officer Tom Ondecker responded, and found the man getting ice cream at Strickland’s.

Ondecker learned that the man lived at a nearby care center. He walked with the man from Strickland’s back to the facility about a half mile away, carrying the groceries the man had purchased from Aldi’s.

The post says, “Tom is a great example of what it really means to be a police officer.”
