BEREA, Ohio — It’s official.

Browns Coach Mike Pettine says quarterback Brian Hoyer will start in the team’s first preseason game on Saturday.

It was always believed that Hoyer would be starting quarterback, with Johnny Manziel backing him up. Pettine made it official at Browns training camp Wednesday.

The coach said positions will be evaluated from day to day.

The team is prepping for Saturday’s showdown with the Detroit Lions.
