BEREA, Ohio — The Browns continue to get ready for their first preseason game with Coach Mike Pettine releasing the team’s depth chart on Tuesday.

As of now, #2 remains the number two quarterback. Pettine said Brian Hoyer is penciled in as the starting QB with Johnny Manziel backing him up.

The coach said positions will be evaluated from day to day.

He’s getting excited for Saturday’s showdown with the Lions; the team’s first preseason game will be in Detroit. “I’m excited for the guys. They’ve put in a lot of work and they’re tired of smacking each other around.  It’ll be a special day, but I’m more excited for the players and staff than for me personally.”

The fans are also excited. More than 3,300 people were at Tuesday’s training camp.

Meanwhile, defensive back Darwin Cook was waived Tuesday, while four players were signed: TE Kyle Auffray, LB Keith Pough, WR Tim Smith and TE Martell Webb.
