Robbery suspect critically hurt when victims give chase, hit him with cars

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A man who allegedly stole a dirt bike was then struck and critically injured after the victims of the theft gave chase in their cars.

According to Cleveland police, it happened Thursday at 10:30 p.m. An unidentified black male, between 17 and 22 years of age, took a 2007 Honda dirt bike in the 18800 block of Garden Boulevard.

The two victims in the robbery, a 28-year-old and a 24-year-old, got into their vehicles and began looking for the robbery suspect.

The men found the suspect on East 189th Street with the stolen dirt bike. One of them allegedly hit the robbery suspect and the dirt bike with a 2003 Chevrolet Malibu. The other man then hit the robbery suspect with his 2013 Kia.

Police say both men were arrested on charges of felonious assault.

The robbery suspect was taken to the hospital, where he was listed in critical condition with spinal injuries and swelling of the brain.

Police found a loaded handgun at the scene. The person who had the handgun is also under investigation, according to police.

The robbery suspect who was hospitalized has not yet been identified.
