A study claims to have found a way to drastically reduce airfare, but it would mean big changes in the way you fly.

In short, you’d have to stand the entire time.

The study concluded by having passengers stand, you could fit more people in the cabin, allowing the cost to be shared by more people.

Different “seat” designs were considered, including one that allowed you to sit/stand on a saddle and another flat-backed one that you’d be strapped to while actually standing.

Of course, the concept would only work for shorter flights.

The researchers used an example case study that focused on domestic flights in Malaysia.
