Police: 4-year-old shot at east side school playground

CLEVELAND, Ohio — A 4-year-old boy was shot in the leg at an east side school playground Sunday evening.

It happened at East Clark Elementary School on East 146th Street at around 4:40 p.m. Witnesses said a blue vehicle with three to four people inside was driving past the playground when one of the occupants began firing shots.

It was then that the four-year-old was shot in the thigh. He was with his older brother on the playground at the time, and his sibling fled the area with him when he realized what happened.

There were other children on the playground at the time of the incident. There were no other reported injuries.

Police said they do not believe the victim was the intended target of the shooting. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

The victim’s condition is no known.
