CLEVELAND —  The Indians dropped a 6-4 decision to the Tigers before a big crowd Friday night at Progressive Field.

The visitors’ Victor Martinez, himself a former Indian, belted a two-run homer off Corey Kluber in the 4th inning to give the Tigers a 2-0 lead.

In the 8th inning with John Axford on the hill, J.D. Martinez made it a 5-0 Tiger lead thanks to a three-run homer.

Cleveland clawed back in the bottom of the eighth. Asdrubal Cabrera hit a three-run shot to make it a 5-3 game. Carlos Santana followed with a solo homer and it was a 5-4 game.

However, Detroit plated a run in the top of the 9th to make the climb more difficult.

Down 6-4, with two outs and Michael Brantley on base, Michael Bourn struck out to end the game.

Kluber took the loss while Rick Porcello earned the victory.

Indians and Tigers meet Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. and it will be televised on FOX 8. It’s also the night former Indians great Omar Vizquel gets inducted into the Indians Hall of Fame.
