Off-duty officer pulls driver to safety after crash, gas pump fire

WHITE PLANES, New York -- An off-duty police officer risked his life to save a driver who slammed his car into a gas pump before it burst into flames.

According to News 12, John Vescio is a senior investigator with the New York State Police and was pumping gas into his unmarked cruiser at the time.

A 69-year-old man apparently blacked out, slamming into one of the gas pumps and some of the cars, including Vescio's.

Flames quickly started to spread, and Vescio pulled the driver from his car.

It was all caught on video.
