SANDY TOWNSHIP, Ohio-- A pull-off just off Sandyville Road in rural Tuscarawas County’s Sandy Township leads to a common place to do a little fishing at Sandy Creek.

It is also the place where a body of a man was found Wednesday morning.  “That's scary. It's a very quiet community. I never hear about any crime, yet alone something like that," Sandy Township resident, Mary Melody, said.

Tuscarawas County sheriff deputies said a couple driving by noticed a teal colored shirt. When they looked closer they realized they came upon a dead body. It was about 90 feet from the road. "I’ve never been exposed to anything like this so close to home.  But, it's very shocking.  It just doesn't happen around here, “Sandy Township resident, Bob Murphy, said.

Authorities said the man was carrying no identification and they could not identify him through fingerprints. They did say the body showed some signs of foul play because the man's clothes had been disturbed.

He is described as a heavyset, white male with very short brown hair, a groomed goatee and a tattoo.  An autopsy is being done to determine the cause of death.

Anyone with information about the man's identity is asked to contact the Tuscarawas County Sheriff's Office at (330) 339-2000.
