PAINESVILLE, Ohio– The jury in the murder conspiracy trial of Kevin Knoefel deliberated for several hours on Tuesday and will continue deliberations Wednesday morning.

The 43-year-old is accused of seducing his foster daughter, Sabrina Zunich, and then convincing her to kill his wife.

Zunich, 19, said it was Knoefel who hatched the plan to kill his wife and collect $785,000 from various life insurance policies. She said she was following Knoefel’s plan when she stabbed Lisa Knoefel 178 times in November 2012.

On Monday, when Knoefel’s sister was called to testify in his defense, Knoefel cried for the first time. Chris Ann Sutton described her brother’s demeanor on the day his wife was murdered. “Gave him a hug, and at that point, he started crying, I was crying, and it was a struggle to get him into the house.”
