Cleveland Kennel waives animal adoption fees

CLEVELAND — The City of Cleveland Kennel is waiving animal adoption fees in honor of Ohio Animal Week.

The Kennel, along with the Cleveland Animal Control Volunteers, are celebrating Ohio Animal Week by waiving adoption fees from June 1 through June 7.

Regular adoption fees are $61 for all pets. The $20 Cuyahoga County license fee is still required to adopt a pet.

Extended hours of operation during Ohio Animal Week include 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 3, and Thursday, June 5. The Kennel is also hosting on-site adoption on Saturday, June 7 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

To donate to the Cleveland Kennel during Ohio Animal Week, the following items are needed:

  • Canned dog food
  • Canned cat food
  • Puppy/small dog dry food
  • 6′ British-style slip leads
  • XL KONG classic treat dispensing dog toy
  • Towels
  • Coconut oil
  • Large Rubbermaid bins with lids
  • Small soft dog treats


All new pet adoptions include spay or neutering, licenses, microchips and the animal’s first round of vaccinations.
