BRECKSVILLE, Ohio — A suspicious package found at Hilton Elementary School in Brecksville Wednesday morning was determined to be no threat to students or the property.

According to the Brecksville-Broadview Heights City School District, an unusual itemĀ  was noticed around 7 a.m.

Hilton students were taken to the high school, which is located on the same campus, during an investigation.

Parents received a reverse 911 call alerting them to the situation.

The item that prompted the scare turned out to be a geocaching device.

“These devices are used for real-world treasure hunts using GPS-enabled tools. Neither students nor the building were in danger at any time,” the school district explained on its website.

The process of returning students to Hilton began before 10 a.m. Wednesday.
