Miracle Recovery: Teen Thought to be Brain Dead Moves Fingers
TUCSON, Ariz. — A University of Arizona student was on his way home from coaching a basketball game back in October 2011, when a van swerved into his lane changing his life forever.
According to ABC News, in that resulting five-car crash, he suffered massive brain injures that are usually fatal. They were so severe that he underwent brain surgery, and didn’t respond afterward for days.
His doctors believed he was brain-dead, and talked with his parents about organ donation and taking him off life support, according to ABC News.
Then the unthinkable happened: he raised his two fingers to those at his bedside.
Now, almost three years later, he is almost completely recovered and even plays basketball.
