CLEVELAND–The Oakland A’s jumped all over starter Zach McAllister on Friday night on their way to an 11-1 win at Progressive Field.

McAllister breezed through the first, but got in big trouble in the second as Oakland scored 8 runs in breaking the game open.

Nick Swisher staked the home team to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first thanks to a solo homer. It was his 3rd homer of the year.

In the second, Jed Lowrie tied the game with a RBI single. Then the fireworks began. Josh Reddick spanked a grand slam homer to make it a 5-1 game.

Then, Josh Donaldson hit a three-run homer to give Oakland the 8-1 lead. McAllister’s night was over before it began. He was charged with eight runs in only 1 and one thirds innings on the hill.

Kyle Crockett, brought up from AA Akron, came on to get the last out of the second, and allowed a solo homer by Lowrie in the third as he went 1.1 innings for his major league debut, allowing one run.

Oakland got two more runs in the 7th inning, courtesy of a Josh Reddick two-run homer off Carlos Carrasco.

The Indians managed just 3 hits against starter Sonny Gray and the bullpen.

The Indians and A’s will mix it up again on Saturday night in a 7:05 affair.
