Tribe Falls to Blue Jays in Toronto, 4-2

TORONTO–The Toronto Blue Jays used power to pick up a 4-2 win over the Cleveland Indians at Rogers Centre on Thursday night.

The Blue Jays jumped on Danny Salazar in the bottom of the second to take a 2-0 lead.   Solo homers by Edwin Encarnacion and Juan Francisco powered the home team to the lead.

David Murphy cut the lead in half in the top of the 5th inning with a solo homer, his 3rd of the year.

Salazar threw a lot of pitches in his 4 innings on the hill. He gave up five hits and two runs and walked two before heading to the showers. He is now 1-4 on the year.

In the bottom of the fifth inning, Encarnacion hit his second homer of the game, the 8th of the season. The two-run shot gave the Blue Jays a 4-1 lead.

Cleveland got one more run in the 8th inning when Yan Gomes singled Ryan Raburn home.

J.A. Happ went 6 innings to get the win.

Cleveland comes home Friday night to begin a weekend series with the Oakland A’s at Progressive Field.
