Asheboro, NC (WGHP) — Keith Crisco, Clay Aiken’s opponent for the U.S. House District 2 seat, died at his home on Monday afternoon, a spokeswoman for Asheboro Elastics Corp. has confirmed.
Reports suggest he suffered injuries from a fall around 1 p.m. at his home on Thayer Drive in Asheboro.
Crisco was dead when emergency services arrived at the scene, City Manager John Ogburn confirmed.
Crisco served as Secretary of the N.C. Department of Commerce before leaving his post in 2012.
The U.S. House District 2 race was considered “too close to call,” but Aiken lead Crisco by 369 votes.
