A rare megamouth shark was snagged recently off the coast of Japan.

According to Fox News, a group of fishermen caught the shark, a 1,500-pound female.

The first megamouth was discovered in 1976, according to Fox News, prompting scientists to create a new genus for sharks. Only 58 have ever been caught.

Megamouth sharks are considered one of the most rare fish in the world. They live on krill.
