University of Akron Names Scott Scarborough President

AKRON– The University of Akron named Scott Scarborough the new president of the university.

Scarborough is the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs at The University of Toledo.

The announcement came during a press conference Thursday afternoon.

During the press conference, university officials read a statement from Dr. Scarborough, who said he was excited for the opportunity.

The other presidential finalists were Jim Tressel, and Ronald Nykiel of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore.
