CLEVELAND-- Thanks to our viewers and online followers, FOX 8’s Facebook page recently hit 500,000 ‘likes’ for the first time!
When it comes to local news, Kim Tyler from Bedford is one of many who rely on FOX 8 News. “I just like it because it’s more than just listening to the news, it’s also - kind of - makes you feel like family,” said Tyler, who is also a fan of our Facebook page.
Tyler is proud to say she’s a fan of FOX 8 News and she, along with Maya Curtis, count on Cleveland’s Own.
“It’s a good way to find out about things that are going on in the area, I use it for that too, to see what other people are doing,” said Curtis, a Facebook user.
FOX 8’s Facebook fan page was first created in 2007 while most television stations were still figuring out what Facebook was all about. Soon, we hit 100,000 likes, then 300,000 and now half-a-million! And we’re proud to say our ‘fans’ are from Northeast Ohio and around the world.
“Because of my busy life, it’s so hard to get home and turn into the news, so I can find my information that way,” said Kelly Morgan from Cleveland Heights.
Shannon Russell, from Shaker, goes online regularly for news and information. “You know, weather, traffic, things that are going on locally - if it’s happening with the schools, that sort of thing - snow days, that was certainly important this year,” said Russell.
The FOX 8 Facebook page is also a great way to reach out and share story tips and ideas directly with our newsroom.
The page has a powerful reach. How powerful? One story recently posted was shared more than 20,000 times and seen by 11 million people!
From all of us at FOX 8 News, we say thank you 500,000 times.
“If I see the link on my homepage or on my news feed, then I can use that to go directly to any stories that I need,” said Kim Tyler from Bedford.
