Avon Schools: 4th Case of Pertussis Confimed

AVON, Oh – The Avon Local School District has confirmed a fourth case of Pertussis (also known as whooping cough) in the school system.

The Lorain County Health Department informed the district of the new case. The health department is now recommending that all 11 and 12-year-olds receive the ‘Tdap” (tetanus, diphtheria and pertussis) booster shot. The shot is already required for incoming 7th graders.

The Lorain General Health District is holding a clinic on May 7th from 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. at the health department located at 9880 S. Murray Ridge Road in Elyria.
