Closures, Detours Set for Downtown ‘Dazzle the District’ Event

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Drivers are gearing up for what's expected to be a traffic nightmare in downtown Cleveland Friday.

The city will host a major celebration in the heart of the Playhouse Square District: the Dazzle the District celebration is expected to attract thousands of people, wanting to see the unveiling of the world's largest outdoor chandelier.

The celebration will begin at 5 p.m. with a live performance and other activities. The chandelier lighting ceremony will begin at about 9:30 p.m.

**We will have LIVE coverage of the event and preparations throughout the day Friday on Fox 8 News in the Morning through Fox 8 News at 10 p.m. The unveiling will also be streamed LIVE on**

Also downtown Friday, the Cleveland Indians play the Chicago White Sox at 7:05 p.m., and Cher performs at Quicken Loans Arena at 8 p.m.

As a result of those events and the big chandelier bash, several street closures will be in effect.

The list of closures includes:

--Euclid Ave from E. 13th – E. 14th both directions on Wednesday April 30 at 12 p.m. through Saturday May 3rd at 12 p.m.

--Euclid from E. 14th to E. 18th both directions on Friday from 9 a.m. through 12 a.m. Saturday. Will leave access on 17th/18th north and south when possible, depending on fireworks set-up.

--E.14th from Prospect to Euclid and Euclid Ave. from E.17th to E. 14th on Thursday from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m.

--E. 14th from Euclid Ave. to Prospect Ave. Friday from 9 a.m. through Saturday ay 9 a.m. Will leave Bronwell Court open for deliveries to businesses, access to AMPCO parking lot off of Prospect will be open.

--E.17th from Prospect to Chester Ave. Will leave access to CSU Parking Garage, enter from Chester Ave. only.

--East 18th from Prospect to Chester Ave. on Friday from 9:45 p.m. to 10:45 p.m. for FIREWORKS ONLY.

--Handicap access/drop off location will be at Prospect and E.14th
