Mark Zinni receives good news following his body scan

Our Mark Zinni continues to get stronger and healthier following his diagnosis with stage one thyroid cancer.

Nearly three months after having his thyroid removed, Mark is now undergoing the next step in his treatment.

Today, Mark posted on his Facebook page, ‘Great news after my first body scan..nothing abnormal found.’

The past several weeks, Mark has been on a strict, low-iodine diet.

Mark has talked about his diet and struggles not to satisfy his ‘sweet tooth,’ especially for a guy who lives on cupcakes and ice cream.

Mark had  to be on the diet because thyroid tissue responds to iodine in the body. He basically starved his body of iodine and avoiding foods with iodine in it.

Following his scan, Mark said there is very little thyroid tissue remaining in his neck and the doctors were pleased!

He will now be  on a dose of radioactive iodine to obliterate what’s left.
