ELYRIA, Ohio — Police are investigating after three armed suspects robbed a supermarket in Elyria Tuesday, ordering customers to the ground at gunpoint.

According to police, it happened just before 10 p.m. at C Supermarket, 1227 Lake Ave.

A male clerk told police he was assisting a customer when three armed people came into the store. One was carrying a sawed off shotgun, and two had handguns.

There was another female in the store as well as a customer, said police, and they were ordered to the ground at gunpoint. They were told to comply or get hurt, according to police.

The suspect with a shotgun directed the male clerk to the area of the store where the money is located.

The suspects took an undisclosed amount of money and fled south on foot from the store, said police.

Anyone with information is asked to call police.
