SOLON, Ohio — A Beachwood man faces charges after police say he intentionally hit a goose while he was driving under the influence.

A resident called Solon police just before 1 p.m. April 5 reporting that a man driving a black SUV intentionally hit a Canada goose on Cochran Road.

When the officer arrived, the goose had died. While the resident was speaking with the officer, the black SUV was seen driving north on Cochran Road.

The officer pulled the vehicle over and spoke with the driver, Michael Klein, 49.

The officer said Klein appeared dazed and highly intoxicated. His eyes were red and bloodshot, and he smelled like alcohol, said police. He also failed field sobriety tests.

Klein faces charges of OVI and full time and attention, according to Bedford Municipal Court records.
