NORTH RIDGEVILLE, Ohio-- Michael Terrell of North Ridgeville was on his way home from work Wednesday when he witnessed a crash.

"As we were making the turn onto Center Ridge, we heard sirens and I looked up and the car in front of me made impact," said Terrell.

Inside the car was a 20-year-old Elyria man, who police said had carjacked a man earlier in the day on Washington Avenue in Elyria.

Police said the suspect approached a man driving a blue Ford Taurus in the parking lot of the victim's apartment and carjacked him with a knife; he then drove away and the victim called police.

Hours later, the North Ridgeville Police Department noticed a car matching the description of the stolen vehicle driving on Center Ridge Road.

When officers tried to pull him over, the suspect took off at high speeds.

"They must have been going 50-60 miles per hour. I saw the head-on collision. It spun the white vehicle that was in front of me two or three times around," said Terrell.

Police said the suspect and the driver of the car he hit were taken to the hospital.

The man faces charges in North Ridgeville and Elyria.
