CLEVELAND– A prestigious honor will be given to one of the most dedicated people in Cleveland.

Yvonne Pointer will become the first person in the nation to receive the FBI Director’s Community Leadership Award for a second time.

Yvonne established the Gloria Pointer Scholarship Fund to remember her daughter who was murdered in 1984.

Yvonne wrote a powerful book called “Behind the Death of a Child.”

She has worked tirelessly to support victims of crime locally, nationally and around the world and has served as a partner to law enforcement.

While stopping by our FOX 8 Studios on Tuesday, Yvonne said, “I tell anyone, if you want to be helped, help someone else along the way. So, it just took its own life, just serving others and to now be recognized for services is unnecessary cause it was really the way I could find to help myself.”

FBI Special Agent in Charge Stephen Anthony said in a statement,”Yvonne Pointer has positively impacted the lives of so many and is well-deserving of this recognition.”

Yvonne will be honored with the award on Friday.
