AKRON, Ohio– Police in Akron have cleared a man they were searching for in a hit-and-run accident involving an 11-year-old boy.

On March 12, police said the child was crossing South Arlington St. and 7th Ave. to catch the bus for school when a red pick-up truck struck him and kept going.

It was believed to be an older model Chevy or GMC.

The boy was taken to Akron Children’s Hospital to be treated for his injuries.

Police released surveillance photos of the man on Tuesday, wanting to question him in the incident.

Police said Wednesday they identified the man, and he has since been cleared.
