MIAMI, Florida-- A man was sentenced to two weeks in jail on contempt of court, after he tore up a piece of paper, stuffed it in his mouth and swallowed it.

That piece of paper was a tip that was to be turned over to the court.

According to WPLG, Richard Masten, who is the director of the Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers, refused to turn in the tip, saying he wasn't willing to risk allowing a judge to determine whether a tip should be disclosed.

He told WPLG, "We promised the people that give us information to solve murders, serious violent crimes in this community, that they can call us with an assurance that they will remain anonymous."
