HINCKLEY, Ohio — Spring unofficially sprung at 7:47 a.m. Saturday when the first buzzard returned to Hinckley.

A party started early Saturday to celebrate the internationally-known phenomenon of the buzzards’ return to Cleveland Metroparks Buzzard Roost in Hinckley Reservation.

About 47 minutes after the buzzard watch began early Saturday morning, the first buzzard was spotted at 7:47 a.m.

The legend of the buzzards’ return started in the late-1950s when a ranger, for six consecutive years, noted that his first buzzard sighting occurred on March 15.
